Kanagawa Cuisine
Seafood
Kanagawa Prefecture faces two bays, Tokyo Bay and Sagami Bay, both of which are home to numerous fishing ports—namely in Misaki and Odawara.
The prefecture offers a wide variety of marine products, ranging from coastal fish to deep-sea fish and pelagic tuna.
Additionally, the prefecture also boasts numerous river and lake fish, including ayu (sweetfish), which are especially famous around the Sagami River and the Saka River.
You can enjoy the freshly caught seafood at restaurants and markets throughout the region. The bounty of Kanagawa's oceans and rivers plays a vital role in the local food culture.
