

Samukawa
Samukawa, in central Kanagawa Prefecture, is a town with history and more than enough attractions to keep any visitors busy and ultimately happy. With the beautiful Sagami River running through it, Samukawa is easily accessible from either Yokohama or Tokyo. Samukawa Central Park attracts locals and visitors alike who can attend large-scale events and festivals which take part in the park's extensive and spacious grounds. From the park itself you can observe the large gate of the renowned Samukawa Shrine and even Mount Fuji on clear days.
Samukawa, essentially, is a microcosm of Japan's complex, yet harmonious relationship with both Shinto and Buddhist religions. The Shinto Samukawa Shrine is a stunning location and rich with history meanwhile visitors can experience zazen meditation at nearby Kozenji Temple. Both are centers of spirituality and both make for interesting and educational excursions with both popular with locals and visitors alike.
