Outdoor Fun in Kanagawa

Connect with nature, friends, family, and yourself

With mountainous terrain, lush forests, and expansive coastlines from Sagami to Tokyo Bay, Kanagawa offers a host of outdoor adventures ranging from hiking and camping to nature obstacle courses, and from cycling to beach fun.

These family friendly activities will keep all ages entertained and vary in activity level and intensity. For those looking for a challenge, Kanagawa has multiple parks with outdoor fitness centers and obstacle courses. Try balancing on rope bridges elevated in the forest canopy at Tree Cross Adventure Atsugi, climb towering structures at Sagamiko Resort, or surf on Sagami Bay’s waves, to name a few.

For scenic wanderers, Kanagawa also has cycling opportunities for visitors to bike through the area’s nature and sightseeing spots. Follow this up by taking advantage of one of Kanagawa’s many barbeque spots to refuel after a solid outdoor adventure.

For something less physically demanding, go glamping along the Miura peninsula with mesmerising views over Tokyo Bay. Get spiritual with a leisurely walk along Kanazawa Kaido and explore temples from the Kamakura period.

For another mind-fulfilling experience, stay at the Fujino Club, where you can learn about and experience humble agricultural living first hand. With environmental harmony at the forefront, the prefecture’s plethora of nature activities brings people together for uniquely fun times.

Explore Kanagawa Beyond Yokohama

Lake Sagami Pleasure Forest is a treat year-round. With their Illumillion illumination during winter and their BBQ sites during summer, this is one of the best places to pump some fun and wonder into your Kanagawa getaway. Ride the massive Ferris wheel for amazing views of the surrounding nature. If you’re after a little more physicality, a visit to Field Athletic Yokohama Tsukushino Course is sure to get your blood going! With their exciting ropes and climbing courses, this is a great way to get some exercise and fun into your trip. They also have on-site BBQ available.

Sarushima is for those who want to explore the mysterious side of Kanagawa. Get away from crowds and clamor on this uninhabited island that was once a military outpost. Explore the ruins and enjoy a beautiful seaside day on Sarushima, also known as Monkey Island.

Of course, views of Mount Fuji are especially sought after, and perhaps nowhere is the sight of Fuji more impressive than from the top of Mount Komagatake in Hakone. Ride the impressive ropeway and marvel at the vistas of Fuji on the way.

Kanagawa is truly a treasure trove of little-known wonders that highlight Japan’s beauty and charm.
