Gokuraku-ji Temple
About
This temple of the Shingon Ritsu sect was founded in 1259 by Hojo Shigetoki, the third son of the second regent Hojo Yoshitoki. The temple was founded by Ninsei Bosatsu, who devoted himself to charity and relief for the poor. Although all the buildings from the time of the temple's founding have been lost, the thatched gate and the yakubachi and chafing mortar left on the temple grounds are reminders of a bygone era.Essential Information
