Atsugi no Ayu
Every year on June 1, the fishing season for ayu (sweetfish) in the Sagamigawa River system opens, attracting many fishers. The Sagami River has been called "the river of sweetfish" since ancient times, and the fish caught there were presented to the Shogunate and enjoyed by many people. At inns in Atsugi Onsenkyo and stores near the station, you can enjoy Sagami ayu grilled over high heat with its crispy skin and tender plump flesh, tempura, sashimi, grilled ayu sushi, kanroni, nanbanzuke, and other delicacies.
