The “Great Kite Festival” is a traditional event that has been handed down for nearly 200 years since the Tempo Era (around 1830), and is held on the banks of the Sagami River between Zama and Sagamihara for two days on May 4 and 5 every year (Zama City Great Kite Festival and Sagami's Great Kite Festival).
