Sagami no Ookite Center (Renge no Sato Araiso)
The Odako is one of the traditional event of Sagamihara city started in Tenpou period (around 1830) in the Edo era. Size of the Hachi (eight)-ken (Japanese unit of measure for length) kite is 14.5 meters square and its weight is about 950 kg. This is the the largest in Japan. One of the highlight of the Odako is that everything is handmade from parts preparation including making frames by cutting out bamboos to writing a title. Visitors can view a video of Sagami no Odako in exhibition room at any time.
