“Hachikendako” is one of the traditions in Sagamihara City which was passed down during the Tenpo era (around 1830). Known to be the largest kite in all of Japan, it measures 14.5 meters (47.6 ft) each side, and weighs around 950kg (2,094lbs). It is also impressive to witness the entire process of making the kite, from the framework to lettering, which are done all by hand.
