Kanagawa From Home

Kanagawa is Beautiful

Dec 26 2022

Discover some of Kanagawa Prefecture’s most beautiful views by stepping off the beaten path of Yokohama, Hakone and central Kamakura, and seek out these beautiful, unique locations on your next Kanagawa trip.

Sengokuhara

The Sengokuhara Silver Grass Plains to the north of Hakone are not to be missed each autumn. With the feathery maiden silver grass gently swaying in wind as far as the eye can see, it’s a sight to behold. Witness a golden meadow, illuminated by the sun in the afternoon hours, as you walk along the pathway.

Shichirigahama

It’s no surprise this beach, on Kanagawa’s southern Shonan coastline near Enoshima and Kamakura, is considered one of the prefecture’s most beautiful. It was covered by famous ukiyo-e artists Hokusai and Hiroshige and featured in both their Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji series. Enjoy a walk along the beach with Mt Fuji views or stay for sunset.

Zama Sunflower Field

Descend on rural Zama in the summer months to discover fields of sunflowers awaiting. August’s Zama Sunflower Festival sees two main areas (Zama and Yotsuya fields) covered in a dreamlike expanse of approx. 550,000 sunflowers. Look out for one of the observation decks to get a panoramic view of the fields.

SUP at Hayama Ocean Sports

If you’re looking to try your hand at a new water sport, try out a SUP lesson with Hayama Ocean Sports. And if you need a break, you could always take one on your board and appreciate Mount Fuji’s beautiful silhouette.
