Sato Honjin Ato

Sato Honjin Ato

It was a building of 181 tsubo (598 square meters) with a gated entrance. At the end of the Tokugawa period, the 14th shogunate, Tokugawa Iemochi, stayed here. In Meiji 23 (1890), Sonosuke Sato, a famous poet, was born here. He was active from the Taisho period until before the war and wrote the lyrics for many familiar songs such as "Rokko Oroshi!", "Aoi Senaka", and "Jinsei gekijo".
