Ginryugai

Ginryu-gai is an shopping arcade from Shinkawa Street to City hall street. It was built by filling the Furukawa river. The purpose of building the shopping arcade was to employ the jobless people. Yanagi (read as "ryu") have strong branches which even bear heavy snow. The people who survived the war and regarded the Yanagi as the symbol of their endurance. Gin means deep beautiful silver. This arcade was named after those reasons.
