Maioka Park

Maioka Park covers an area of 28.5ha and is a nature-filled park that retains the traditional valley landscape. The park is maintained and managed with attention to the preservation of biodiversity, and is home to a wide variety of plants and animals. The park has wooded areas, rice paddies, and fields, where visitors can experience rice planting and harvesting. The 100-year-old old private house is decorated in a traditional way for each season, and events such as the Nanakusa-gayu (rice gruel with seven herbs) and Otsukimi (moon-viewing) are held. Visitors can also try their hand at straw and bamboo crafts.
