Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetlands
About
The Hakone Botanical Garden, located in Sengokuhara, is Japan's first wetland botanical garden. With a focus on plants growing in wetlands, rivers, and lakes, approximately 1,700 plants, including 200 wetland plants from all over Japan, 1,100 grassland, forests, plateau plants, and rare foreign mountain plants, can be seen across all four seasons. The path is designed so visitors can see plants from the lowlands to high mountain areas and low-level to high-level wetlands, making it easy to learn about the development of ecosystems in wetlands. Our exhibition room features photographs and panels introducing the flora and fauna of the Sengokuhara Wetland. We also offer seasonal flow exhibitions, so please check it out when you visit!Travel tip
Elevate your nature experience with a short boat ride around Koajiro Bay and Forest via Riviera Seabornia Marina. This marine resort in Miura offers a Kaojiro course that takes visitors on a cruise through the bay with a nature guide who offers information about the history and nature of the area.
