Since olden times, Mt. Oyama has been known as a mountain where god of rain resides in, and pilgrims used to visit it to pray for rain. Even today, it bustles with people who want to pay a visit to Oyama like pilgrims used to do. Enjoy strolling a historical route from Futago through Mizonokuchi, which used to be one of the busiest paths in the area, and feel the footsteps of the pilgrims in the past.

Okamoto Kanoko Statue (Mother of Okamoto Taro)

Okamoto Kanoko, who played an active part in the literary world from the Taisho period to Showa period, was born in Futako. The Okamoto Kanoko Literary Monument at Futago Shrine was created by her eldest son, Okamoto Taro, who is known for his "Tower of the Sun" building and the handwriting is of Yasunari Kawabata, a famous novelist.
