Gumyoji Temple - Explore public baths and shopping arcades

Spoil yourself at the Gumyoji shopping district in Minami-ku, Yokohama. Built in front of a temple, this shopping street has what they call the East's number one arcade. There are stores where you can delight in tofu and side dishes, liquor stores, and old-fashioned cafes. There're also some bath houses in the area if you fancy taking a dip.

Gumyoji kan'non

Yokohama’s oldest temple. Gumyoji Kannon is a nationally designated important cultural property. The temple was called “Kyumyoji” in the Kamakura era, but it was changed to “Gumyoji” in tribute to Kannonkyo (Buddhist sutra).
