Sojiji Temple (Mirei Matsuri Bon Dance Festival)
This temple is the main temple of the Sodo Sect and one of the largest temples in the Kanto region. Here in this spacious compound, you can find Garan(temple buildings) including Daisodou Hall. It was formerly located in Wajima city in Ishikawa prefecture, but it moved to Tsurumi in 1911 (Meiji 44). Feel free to roam around the temple grounds or go on a tour by a monk in training (about 1 hour to roam the whole grounds). You can also experience Zazen Meditation experience and taste Shojin cuisine (Vegetarian). The entrance, Sammon Gate, is made of reinforced concrete and is one of the biggest in Japan. In the gate, there are statues of the Nio Guardians modelled after the northern lake gate.
