Odawara Hojo Godai Festival
This is the largest festival in Odawara City to honor the Hojo clan, a warlord who reigned over the Kanto region for five generations for about 100 years during the Warring States Period, when the flesh and bones of the clan and who built the country based on the ideal of peace for his people were fought over. A total of 1,700 people parade through the city in a brave procession of warriors, mainly imitating the five generations of Hojo lords, as well as local brass bands, the Ground Self-Defense Force and other musicians and portable shrines. In addition, there will be a firing performance by the Hojo Teppo-shu, a performance by the Fuuma Ninjas, a stamp rally with commemorative gifts, ninja-star throwing, and other hands-on activities.
