Odawara, Ejima
Odawara Ejima, located on the Ginza-dori shopping street just a 7-minute walk from the East Exit of Odawara Station, is a specialty store dedicated to Japanese tea and washi paper originally founded in 1661. The current building was rebuilt after the Great Kanto Earthquake, and features the traditional Odawara merchant house architecture of the dashigeta style. The interior of the store has a ceiling that shows the original beams from the time of construction. Inside, you will find Japanese teas sourced from Kakegawa, Shizuoka Prefecture, and tea utensils from various regions of Japan, as well as colorful yuzen paper, various goods made from Japanese paper, and a wide variety of paper products such as congratulatory gift bags.
The store also houses a "Machikado Museum," displaying historical items such as an Edo period ledger and deerskin happi coats.
