Kawasakikakou Sluice gate

Kawasakikakou Sluice gate

Kakou Suimon at Tama river was built in March, 1928 (Showa 3) as part of the management plan of canal, ports and harbors. Ornaments in the motif of abundant pears, grapes, and peaches in a basket are at the top of the tower. Those fruit used to be specialties of Kawasaki at the time. The water gate was designated as a registered tangible cultural property in 1998 (Heisei 10).
