Fuji on the Left Side in Fuji Yoshiwara

Hidari-fuji, Fuji on the Left, was so named as this was the only place where travelers of the Edo period could see Mt. Fuji on their left side on their way to Kyoto on the Tokaido road. This place is also depicted in "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido Road" by Hiroshige Ando, a renowned Ukiyoe painter.
