Former Villa of Gokichi Matsumoto, Ukou Tea House
Gokichi Matsumoto is a politician who was active in the Meiji and Taisho eras, and had a close relationship with Meiji sholar Aritomo Yamagata. This building was built around 1923. It consists of a sukiya-style main building, a separate tea room, a waiting room, and a garden with an artificial hill and waterscape. It is a valuable relic that conveys the culture of modern Odawara villas, where tea ceremony exchanges were popular and lively.
