Dokuonji

Dokuonji

About

Dokuonji was established roughly 400 years ago as a temple for the repose of the souls of the deceased, on a site that has long been beloved as a sacred place. Principal Image: Shakyamuni Buddha Founded: 1619 (Genna 5) Founder: Zen Master Ippo Kenzon Many people, including parishioners, local residents, and visitors from afar (even those from overseas) come to experience zazen meditation, dozen meditation, sutra copying, and other practices. In addition, an online zazen meditation session is held every Saturday evening, with participants joining from all over the globe. For details, please inquire by phone or email (please refer to the zazen session homepage).

Dokuonji at night

Besides temple patrons and locals, many foreigners come to experience meditation here on the first Saturday of every month.

*We are currently holding a Saturday night zazen meditation session via Zoom. For more information, please contact us by phone or Facebook (Soin Satoshi Fujio).
