Daiba Park

Daiba Park

Daiba means battery. Edo shogunate built 6 batteries in order to protect Japan from American fleets which demanded Tokugawa shogunate to open up port toward America. This is the reason this place is called Daiba. It is now a large park and is a hot tourism area. Photos provided by Tokyo Port Terminal Corporation.
