Local Meteorological centers are basically located in the capital of the prefecture. They are in charge of weather forecast, weather warning, observing volcanoes and act of nature. Yokohama Meteorological center was established in 1927. It was reconstructed in 2007 designed by famous architect Tadao Ando. It is occupied with an earthquake resistant construction.
