The martial arts hall was built on the site of the former Yokohama Municipal Yokohama Sogo High School as part of the redevelopment project of the Yokohama Bunka Gymnasium, which closed in September 2020. It corresponds to the sub-arena of the Yokohama BUNTAI scheduled to open in April 2024. It has a martial arts hall with a capacity of approximately 500 people on the first floor, an arena with a capacity of approximately 3,000 people on the second floor, and a VIP lounge on the fourth floor. It is mainly used for martial arts events, basketball, futsal, gymnastics, table tennis, professional wrestling, etc. In addition to sports, music events can also be held. The facility also offers many opportunities for people to become familiar with the martial arts, such as regular classes for citizens in Naginata and Taijiquan, and irregular classes for beginners such as "Karate Ita-barai" (hands-on experience of breaking a wooden board). The classes are held in an authentic martial arts hall and are taught by experienced instructors, making it an easy way to experience the martial arts. *The karate board-splitting experience is held irregularly, so please inquire in advance.
