Verny Park

Verny Park

Verny Park overlooks the former Yokosuka ironworks on the opposite bank, which the Frenchman Verny was part of constructing. The French garden features beautiful flowerbeds, fountains, and a Western-style pavillion. The gorgeous rose bed with 1,700 roses of about 160 species is the highlight of the park. In spring, various roses are in full bloom, highlighting the harbor.

Travel tip

This park is filled with beautiful roses and monuments from Verny's time in Japan. At one end is the Verny Museum celebrating Frenchman Francious L. Verny's contribution to the industrialization of Japan.
