Shinsei-ko Lake

Hadano

The Great Kanto Earthquake of September 1, 1923, caused a 200-meter-wide cave-in in this area, which dammed up the city of Kizawa and created Lake Shinsei. Nearly 100 years after the earthquake, the lake surface, collapsed area, and dammed area can still be seen, and was registered as a National Monument on March 26, 2021.
