This road or "kiridoshi" is known to be the steepest among the seven entrances of Kamakura and is certified as a national designated historic site.Kiridoshi is a passageway that connected Kamakura to neighboring areas and was made by cutting through mountains and hills and creating tunnels and roads. It is said that during war, the land was protected by blocking these roads.
