杉本寺
杉本寺は、十一面観音を本尊とする鎌倉最古の寺院です。境内にある美しい苔の石段とおびただしい量の白い奉納旗で有名なお寺です。

Founded in 734 CE, this small, charming temple is the oldest in Kamakura, with a history to match. Sugimoto means "under the cedars"; according to legend, the three ancient statues of the Buddhist goddess of mercy that you can see here took shelter from a fire, all by themselves, behind a tree on the grounds.
