
Tokei-ji Temple
Known as a temple that served as a shelter for women who took refuge and sought a divorce from their abusive husbands. Within its premises, there are various flowers of every season. You can experience various classes such as zazen (seated meditation), tea ceremonies, and incense-smelling ceremonies. (Reservation required)
Travel tip
Close to Kita-Kamakura Station, Tokei-ji is a charming little Buddhist temple, with a peaceful wooded cemetery and an interesting history. It used to be a convent, and served also as a refuge for women seeking to divorce their husbands, their only option at the time.
