The place name reference room is a facility that collects, stores, and publishes books, maps, etc. related to place names. It was opened in 1996 in the Kawasaki City Lifestyle and Culture Center "Tekuno Kawasaki" in Mizonokuchi, Takatsu-ku, Kawasaki. With a focus on topography from all over Japan (prefectural history, (historical) county magazines, municipal history, etc.), there is a collection of over 60,000 pieces of literature, historical materials, maps, etc. all related to place names. As a facility specializing in place names which is rare in Japan, it holds lectures and fieldwork related to this field.
