Oi

Bordering the Tanzawa mountains in western Kanagawa Prefecture, Oi is one of the region's agricultural centers and is renowned for gourds (hyotan) which even has its own festival named Oi Yosakoi Hyotan. The area of Oi, unsurprisingly, has a very popular and thriving farmers' market named Shiki no Sato where visitors can indulge themselves in local produce grown by farmers all within the local area. Oi is also renowned for the size of its fruit and vegetables and the daikon radishes are huge in size and attract a lot of attention.

Due to its proximity to the Tanzawa mountain range sake is popular in this region of Kanagawa Prefecture. Inoue Sake Brewery is one of the town's leading brewers which dates back to 1789. Brewery visits are possible and guests have the lucky opportunity to observe the sake production which spans from November to March. Oi is a beautiful and serene town which comes to life with its people and thriving agricultural cultures.
